Fall Vibes at Plaza Antique
If you are looking for a modern, moody vibe for your wedding, let us introduce you to Bianka and Fabio’s celebration, held at the chic and trendy Plaza Antique in Montreal last fall. The couple chose Quebec photographer Lana Nimmons to capture all of the emotion and atmosphere. Embracing the season, their wedding palette was comprised of dark, rich colors and the floral arrangements were late blooming roses, berries, and dahlias.
“Fabio and I met online 12 years ago, and he proposed on our 10-year anniversary,” Bianka explains. “We married a year later. For the wedding, we wanted people to feel enchanted when they walked into our reception at Plaza Antique. We had lots of trees and asked the hall to turn off the overhead lighting so that only our candles and string lights illuminated the room. It really made the atmosphere perfect.”
Bianka’s sparkly, long dress, beautiful ostrich jacket, and cat eye glasses looked stylish in her portraits and helped further the modern, moody vibe outside. Then she entered the reception in a fluttery wrap that sparkled under the lights. “The time was just magical”, says the photographer. “Especially, the portraits, which were taken at Le Centre de la Nature in Laval. We wanted to capture the falling leaves and the dark colors on the trees, and nature gave us just what we were looking for.”
Nimmons says there was a black tent on site at Plaza Antique, which added a beautiful contrast with the chandeliers and greenery. “It was super chic looking, especially with the beautiful geo backdrop the bride had made with her father in wonderful neutral tones, which just made everything else pop.”
Nimmons continues, “My clients had a very specific aesthetic in mind and trusted me to run with that and be super creative, so much so that I created a preset just for them, which now has become my favorite preset to use. It’s called feel’n moody and it comes from deep tones with a splash of browns (that aren’t muddy) and dark but with the blacks slightly lifted so it looks clean.
“Just like all weddings I photograph, I try to photograph it like it was my very first wedding, with open eyes, new angles, and the ability to push myself. I really want all the weddings I photograph to feel like a unique approach.”
