3-Day Dream Wedding in Ravello, Italy
It was a dream come true for Portland, Oregon, destination wedding photographers Jos & Tree to photograph couple Anne-Marie and Riley’s Villa Cimbrone wedding in Ravello, Italy. The 3-day event, nested on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast, was an experience that the photographers said felt outside of time.
“Stepping into the medieval dream world of Ravello with Anne-Marie and Riley’s friends and family forever changed the way we see the world,” the photo duo explained. “Walking along the cobblestones leading up to Villa Cimbrone’s enchanting 12th-century architecture and looking out over the vast ocean views with hundreds of scattered stone homes felt like walking into an oil painting. It’s almost as if you discovered you can fly, and you just want to laugh and cry all at once.”
Bride and groom described the setting as “a magical world that settles into your soul and never leaves. We visited 5 wedding venues by the time we reached the Amalfi Coast, none of them feeling quite right. While on a sunset sail along the coast, not knowing exactly where on the coast we were, from the water we spotted the stone structures of the Infinity Terrace of Villa Cimbrone high up on the cliffs above us, and immediately knew this was our place.”
Anne-Marie and Riley also knew right away that Jos & Tree were their photographers: “Their photography is candid, it’s emotional, it’s “UP IN YOUR FACE,” with deep, vibrant saturation. It’s spontaneous, it’s big, fun, and celebratory as well as intimate. It’s inclusive, and it plays the drum in your soul.” We agree, and we are also in love with the juxtaposition of bold, colorful images with timeless black and whites.
On the first day, the luxury wedding festivities kicked off with a celebration on Veliero Tortuga’s sailboat along the Amalfi Coast at sunset with 50 of the lovebirds’ most dear inner circle.
Day 2 included all of the guests gathered in Villa Cimbrone’s Cloister for a cocktail hour and then a seated dinner in the villa’s historical gothic-style Crypt. “Heartfelt speeches and tears poured through everyone surrounded by candlelight,” Jos and Tree told us.
On Day 3, the actual wedding day, Anne-Marie and Riley exchanged vows between two olive trees on the edge of Villa Cimbrone’s Garden 2 overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. “Endless dancing, hugging, laughing, and lots of Prosecco sipping flowed late into the night,” recalled the photographers. “And we can’t forget the late-night fresh pizza baked in the city’s oldest and only true brick oven onsite at after-party venue Villa Eva.”
The couple created a long weekend adventure and an incredible celebration for family and friends.
