Best Cake-Cutting Photos
Couples often assume that cutting their wedding cake will be easy and smooth. After all, it shouldn't be that complicated. However, when it comes time to do the cake cutting, partners often find themselves surprised and confused. Should they cut from the bottom or the top? Should they take a bite or feed their partner first? Should they even prepare for a piece to be pushed in their face, and then what will they do?
Today, we’re here to answer those questions and to share 20 extraordinary photos from our members that beautifully show what really happens when couples cut their wedding cakes. Now that you’ve had a reality check and a good dose of great photography, here’s what you need to know to cut your cake tastefully.
Prepare for the Moment:
Before it’s time for the big event, discuss who will cut the cake and if you are planning to do a cake smash. If one of you is into it, and the other isn’t, it can present a problem on your wedding day.
Prepare for the Photo Op:
Decorate your cake table with linens, flowers, candlelight, or other design elements. Be sure you have lighting that will emphasize the area like a spotlight or overhead chandelier.
Approach Your Cake Cutting with Confidence:
Face your guests and smile. One of you will hold the knife, and the other will help guide it. If you are doing the cake cutting, you’ll cut two small pieces from the bottom layer and leave the rest for the caterers or designated people to cut and serve.
Have Your Cake and Eat it Too:
To start, give each other a small, manageable bite. Then, kiss to make your dessert even more delicious.
Raise Your Glasses & Finish with a Toast:
Pop some champagne or another bubbly drink, carefully. Pour halfway up the glasses and give one to your partner. Take a sip while you look at one another, clink your glasses together, and then raise them up high with a salute to your guests. You can do your toast now, or wait until a designated time for speeches. And then move right on to the dance floor and begin your first dance.
