Boston Public Library Wedding
When planning a wedding, the venue is one of the most important choices you will make, along with choosing your wedding photographer. For couple Alice and Tim, a Boston Public Library wedding offered a unique and elegant experience blending history, architecture, and romance in one of the city’s most iconic historical landmarks. And Boston wedding photographer Nicole Chan was the icing on the cake, with her talent for documenting candid moments, cultural traditions, and authentic emotions.
Alice and Tim, who each describe the other as kind, thoughtful, funny and loving, wanted their Boston Public Library wedding to be intimate, and they wanted to celebrate their own relationship as well as their connection to their family and friends. Chan says the couple chose the library because it was so iconic. It is full of color and has many intricate architectural details that photograph beautifully, including a pair of marble lion statues by Louis Saint-Gaudens on its grand staircase that honor the 2nd and 20th Massachusetts volunteer regiments in the Civil War and are often rubbed by visitors for good luck.
“There were just so many wonderful places to photograph and the couple’s decor absolutely highlighted and complemented the space,” Chan adds. “My favorite details of their Boston Public Library Wedding were the florals, the votives and the iconic history of the space.” Take, for example, the open-air courtyard, closely based on that of the sixteenth-century Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome, which served as the breathtaking location of Alice and Tim’s intimate ceremony.
Chan fondly recalls that one of the highlights of the wedding was the bride’s fashion changes. Alice had several stunning dresses that showcased the tradition and beauty of her culture. Another key element was the couple’s desire to make sure that the joy and love shared by their guests was captured in photographs and that the focus not be solely on them and their wedding party.
Chan more than delivered, documenting all the laughter, tears, joy and hugs that were in abundance that night. “Those are the moments I live and breathe for,” she says. “The candid ones that can be relived and enjoyed for years to come.”
