The breathtaking setting of  Convento Santa Clara serves as a modern-day wedding hotspot. With gorgeous ruins and stunning architecture, this Guatemalan gem showcases the history and heritage of the region. With its intricate Baroque design characterized by ornate facades, elaborate stonework, and graceful arches, you can’t help but fall in love with it and the Central American country itself. On a trip there, the couple Lisa and Jens from South India did just that, then moved quickly to book this highly-sought-after wedding venue that books up many months, and even years, in advance.

 

As the bride described it to her Florida-based wedding photographer Poptelecan Ionut, the Convento Santa Clara and Guatemala itself was the perfect location for her and her groom, Jens. “Nestled amidst four majestic volcanoes, the cobblestone charm of Antigua is enchanting. And the locals have the warmest souls. It’s not just a place for us, but our forever-special, love-filled haven.”

We think their photographer did an amazing job creating artistic, romantic photographs that capture the joy of the celebration and the uniquely beautiful atmosphere. 

During the ceremony, gladiolus, roses, and tropical flowers in shades of yellow and orange complemented the color of the stone and adorned the aisle as the bride and groom took turns walking up it. Friends and family from all corners of the globe looked on with love and supported them.

For the reception, ghost chairs and white tables made an eclectic statement, and the crystal chandeliers that hung above the family table brought elegance to the decor. Lisa and Jens had their first dance out on a misty floor, then the party got underway and lasted for hours. As the evening progressed, they treated their guests to a fireworks display that lit up the night sky, symbolizing prosperity, joy and the couple’s new beginning. And when it was time to say goodbye, they exited under an arch of golden sparklers.

Says the photographer, Poptelecan Ionut, “The ruins of Convento Santa Clara are a true work of art and a place you fall in love with in the first second. Adding to all that beauty was the contribution of wedding planner Saguzo Eventos and floral artist Flor Moreno. Overall, this multicultural wedding was filled with strong emotions, sincere hugs and two extraordinary families that impressed me to the core.”
