Luxury Wedding at Old Fort Bay Club, Bahamas
Couple Abbey and Max chose Bahamas-based wedding photographer Lyndah Wells to photograph their luxury wedding at the Old Fort Bay Club—a private members club located on New Providence Island in the Bahamas—and for good reason. As the very upbeat and award-winning photographer describes it herself, her work is “bold, elegant and editorial in nature, as well as colorful and emotive.” These characteristics are exactly what drew Abbey and Max in, combined with the luxury feel and lush backdrop of the Old Fort Bay Club.
The photographer adds that Abbey and Max’s nuptials oozed that “luxury, old money aesthetic adorned with refined touches.” We love that elegant feel but at the same time, as we glance through the luxury wedding images of gorgeous sunsets and swaying palm trees, we are transported right to the beach, feeling the soft sand under our feet and the tropical breezes caressing our faces. Romance was definitely in the air and Wells knows all about that.
She met the love of her life, Doug, back in 2005 while on a 10-day vacation in the Bahamas. She then moved from London to the Bahamas, got married, and fell in love again, this time with photography. “The vibrant scenery of the islands fuels my passion and creativity, and that translates into my work,” she explains. She excels at creating stunning creative lighting images, and if you want stunning light, the Bahamas is a great place to photograph in.
With this wedding, everything went off without a hitch for Wells. Her approach in general is to always stay calm and collected, focus on the shots that really matter and always compose with intention while also focusing on details and candid moments.
“There should be a balance of composition to keep your interest and emotion, not just the emotion depicted in the image but how it makes you feel when you look at it,” she sums up. “A photo that allows the viewer to feel something when they look at it…whether it’s a sense of identity or belonging, curiosity, or even a sense of calm. That’s what I look for in an image and what I want viewers to look for in all of my images.”
